Frequently Asked Questions

Which version do I need?

Pick the version whose date range contains your average last spring frost. Look up your ZIP code on FrostCal: your city page shows your average last frost and links to the matching calendar.

What format is it?

A 5-page PDF sized for US Letter paper in landscape orientation, designed to print in color or black and white on a home printer.

How do I get it?

Checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy. The PDF download link is emailed to you right after purchase.

Where do the dates come from?

Frost dates come from NOAA 1991–2020 climate normals, the same data behind every FrostCal city page. Planting windows follow university extension timing guidelines, counted from each version's frost dates.

Is there a version for frost-free areas?

Not yet. Places whose last frost is usually before February (most of Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the low desert) plant around heat and rain rather than frost, so a frost-based calendar would be misleading there.

Prefer free? Every city page on FrostCal has the same planting dates online. The printable puts them on paper for the fridge or the garden shed.
